How to delete your Overleap account, and what happens to your data

Last updated: 2026-09

This page explains how to delete your Overleap account, and what happens to your data afterwards. Overleap is operated by Overleap LLC.

1. Delete from inside the app (recommended)

  1. Open the Overleap app and go to Account (in the bottom navigation bar on phones, in the sidebar on desktop).
  2. Make sure you are signed in — your email address is shown on the page.
  3. Scroll to the bottom of the page and tap Delete Account.
  4. Tap Confirm in the dialogue that appears.

Deletion takes effect immediately; no manual processing is involved. You are signed out automatically.

2. If you have already uninstalled the app

Email privacy@overleap.io with the subject Delete account, and state the email address you registered with.

So that nobody can have your account deleted by impersonating you, we send a confirmation message to the registered address; deletion goes ahead once you reply to confirm it. We complete the request within 30 days of receiving your confirmation.

3. Data that is deleted

Permanently deleted the moment you confirm, with no way to recover it:

  • Login identifiers — the binding between your email address and the account. The address is released and may be used to register again.
  • Device registrations — every device registered to your account. All of them lose access immediately.
  • The account itself — deactivated, and can no longer be used to sign in.

4. Data that is retained, and for how long

The following is not removed with the account. Each entry gives the period and the reason:

  • Transaction and order records — kept for 7 years. Required by financial regulations; we cannot delete these earlier.
  • Support correspondence — kept for 2 years after the issue is resolved.
  • Connection logs (connection timestamps and the server location used — never browsing history) — deleted automatically after 7 days on their normal schedule.
  • Traffic volume statistics (byte-count totals only, with no record of what was accessed) — deleted automatically after 2 months on their normal schedule.

Apart from the records listed above, remaining account data is erased within 30 days of the deletion request.

5. Before you delete

  • Unused subscription time is not refunded and cannot be restored afterwards. Contact support@overleap.io first if you want a refund.
  • The action cannot be undone. If you only want to change device or change email address, use device management or the change-email feature in the app instead.

6. Questions

For data protection questions contact privacy@overleap.io; for anything else contact support@overleap.io.
